GPG AND GENFLEX SERVE COMMUNITY IN 2016
In addition to providing great solutions and services at the speed you need to operate your business, General Paper Goods Company also takes its standing in the community, and giving back to those who are part of it, very seriously.
Throughout the year, GPG, through its social responsibility initiative, served the local community on several occasions, in order to give back and say thank you to the community that it has been a part of for nearly 85 years.
SPRING
In April, GPG participated in the annual March of Dimes March for Babies, contributing more than $1,700 to the local chapter of the national organization. The March for Babies is a walking event that funds research to find the cause of premature birth, as well as supports new families with babies in newborn intensive care.
For its efforts, the March of Dimes presented GPG with a certificate of achievement based on the amount of money raised, as well as its gratitude for contributing to this worthy cause.
SUMMER
GPG also gave back closer to home this summer. From June through August, the company collected school supplies at its headquarters for nearby Hapeville Elementary School. The very generous associates of GPG ended up contributing more than 750 different school supplies to local schoolchildren, including backpacks, composition books, printer paper, markers, glue, scissors and more!
Hapeville Elementary’s community specialist, Latrice Thomas, was thrilled by the results of the supply drive. “We will distribute the supplies equally among all 57 of our teachers during our school appreciation day,” she said.
Have a great school year, students!
FALL
September and October will mark the end of this year’s charitable outreach at GPG, and it’s not ending without a bang. GPG associates will participate on September 24 in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, as well as the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 29, in memory of two members of the GPG family who succumbed to the illnesses.
Before the walks, GPG will raise money for these organizations through several on-site events. Throughout the month of September, GPG will feature a “store” at its Atlanta location where associates can purchase items such as bracelets and pins that will benefit the organizations. Then, on September 23, GPG will host a cookout for all of its associates, who can make donations for the chance to dunk the sales team in a dunking booth.
2016 was a great year at GPG, and the possibilities for community engagement and charitable outreach in 2017 are endless. Thank you for being a part of our community, we are honored to be a part of yours!
